This was the only solution I found that gave me a satisfactory experience, and it's the only setup I would feel comfortable recommending as of right now. The only downside is it costs $20 after your free 30-day trial is up.

Using SteerMouse I was able to use my Razer Lancehead wireless, maintain the original MacOS mouse feel, enjoy full M1 Big Sur compatibility, and get all the button functionality and additional sensitivity adjustment I wanted. The final solution was a program called SteerMouse ( ).

However, I really missed being able to use Expose with the click (or gesture) from my mouse. The first one I tried was called SensibleSideButtons, and it is perfect if all you want is the Back/Forward functionality from your side buttons.

I was about to give up when my research into the issue uncovered two different alternative software solutions I could try.
BEST GAMIMG MICE FOR MAC INSTALL
You can install it, but it doesn't see any devices. I tried loading up Synapse 2.0 (Razer's all-in-one device management software) and it doesn't work with my M1 Mac at all. Same as before, sensitivity and cursor feel were great out of the box, but none of the extra buttons work using the default MacOS software. Next I tried out a few of the Razer mice I have. Trying to dial in the sensitivity between the two locations was just maddening. The main issue is that you have to adjust the tracking speed in BOTH the Logitech Options software AND in System Preferences. I tried out Logitech's "Logitech Options" software with a couple of their mice and while the software itself works fine and does provide the additional functionality, it also messes with the tracking and makes the mouse cursor move in a very odd way that I found unpleasant. I wanted something that would maintain the cursor feel of the Magic Mouse (with a little bit more sensitivity) and would have at a minimum the back, forward, and expose functionality that you enjoy with the magic mouse.Īll the mice I tried worked fine out of the box using the built-in software in MacOS, but without extra software you don't get any functionality out of your extra buttons, only the left/right click and center scroll wheel worked. Since I got my M1 Mini last week I have been going through every mouse in my possession to find a setup that works for me.
